Marketing Manager - the American University in Cairo | Egypt Jobs

Reports to: Associate Director - Sales and Marketing

Purpose: To be responsible for developing and maintaining AUC Press and Bookstores brand awareness and
sales worldwide through marketing and promotional strategies to meet agreed company objectives and
sales budgets.

To develop and maintain digital and physical marketing databases for all levels of AUC Press marketing

o Local (Egypt) Book Trade, Academic, Individual, Institutional.
o Middle East (as above)
o Worldwide (as above, working with contracted agents and New York office manager)

To oversee all marketing, advertising and promotional staff and activities, in accordance with an agreed
annual schedule of production, events and mailings (digital and physical), and within a planned budgetary

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Responsible for the marketing of company products and services to the right market whether through AUC Press Sales team, B2B or B2C offers.

2. Demonstrate technical marketing skills and company product knowledge. The MM will attend key weekly meetings including Sales Meeting and Publishing Meeting where future publishing projects are discussed.

3. Develop an annual marketing plan in conjunction with Directors, senior managers and sales team. This should detail the year's activity to meet agreed company objectives.

4. Budget management - To deliver all marketing activity within the agreed budget.

5. To direct, manage and develop marketing team to deliver AUC Press stated goals.
6. To work closely with AUC Press website manager on all aspects of website and social media marketing output planning.

7. To manage all aspects of print production, receipt and distribution, working closely with Sales and Editorial Directors, production manager and print suppliers on content, design and quality.

8. To achieve frequent, timely and positive media coverage across all available media.
9. To share and maximize the benefit of such coverage to create sales and help author relationships.
10. To manage the marketing aspects of author relations and book promotion in the local market (Egypt)
11. To conduct market research as requested by AUC Press Director.

12. To analyze potential strategic partner relationships for special sales opportunities. To feed business opportunities to the sales team which arise in the course of MM work.
