These staffers need fluency in English and Arabic and a background in journalism -- that is, not just translation. They need to be able to select stories to translate and prioritize, applying news judgment as to what is important in the Mideast market. They need to work well as part of a team and be very familiar with global affairs. An understanding of both politics and business news, as well as sports and entertainment, is preferred.
